Spellbook of the Lost and Found: 3.5/5 Stars
First off, if you’re a fan of the Raven Cycle, I think you’ll love this book and it's major creepy and magical vibes!
It all starts out at a party where everyone lost something, even if they didn’t quite realize it at the time. But not only were things lost, people found things that might have been better off staying lost.
This book alternates narrators for each chapter, which I enjoyed, but if I wasn’t paying attention very hard, it was hard to remember who was speaking since they all could have basically been the same person with the same voice.
It wasn’t very long before I caught on to what one of the main twists was, even though it was revealed nearly at the end of the book. I actually enjoyed figuring it out early on because for me the knowing added interest. I also liked how clever (and creepy) the hints were. While this initial twist was easy to spot, the book ended up going in a direction that I didn't anticipate and even though I wasn't sure how I felt about some of the directions, I always like it when a book has more than one or two things in it's back pocket.
I have to say there were some really confusing parts to this story. This book is written beautifully, but some times I find beautiful writing trips readers up, especially when there are a lot of weird and hard to understand things happening all at once. You’re like “this is so beautiful, but what does it even mean?” haha. There were times when I wasn’t quite sure if I was getting what was going on.
I think my biggest complaint is that there were some big unanswered questions at the end. In a way, I can see how it works that these things remain a mystery, but on the other hand I really wanted those answers so I could make more sense of the story.
Overall a super creeptastic book, which I think would be a perfect Halloween read. I really enjoyed the Raven Cycle and this reminded me a lot of the same creepy and magical feelings I got when I read that. This is the kind of book that I would love to do a book club with because there is so much you can talk about.
I enjoyed this as much as someone can that is freaked out. haha. I’d love to hear your thoughts on how it all ended!

This does sound really great to read! I love the cluttered photo to go with the cover. I wonder if the unanswered questions you had were intentional by the author? I shall find out!
